A ribbon caught in the middle of a turn. Where it crosses itself it holds a thin floating shelf, and that is the whole console: 1.4 metres wide, 1.5 metres tall, and no flat face anywhere.
A closed twisting loop with no join line cannot be cast, welded or carved and still be hollow. It is made in split moulds, laid up by hand, bonded and faired until the seam disappears. The result is 44 kilograms and lifts with two people.
The Ribbon is where we run limited finishes — brass, chrome, pearlescent — because a surface with no edges shows a metallic coat better than anything else in the catalogue. Standard house colours in satin and matte otherwise.
